Since I was inspired to share my Halloween story, I decided, why not share what I've been doing the last couple of weeks with my students. Last week, we did a Christmas/shopping story. I wanted my students to be exposed to the phrases "goes shopping, buys, is (located) in the mall, and gives a gift to." Below are the PQA slides, as well as a template of the story so you can "ask" students for some of the details to the story.
Day 1 (PQA new vocabulary phrases - click here for link)
Day 2 (Story asked - click here for template)
Day 3 (Gave students their own copy of their class story, and projected questions to have them answer in Spanish - this was the first time I'd asked them to try complete sentences in Spanish, and they did awesome - click here for example questions that you can adapt to your students' story)
This week, we did a MovieTalk about one of my favorite animated shorts "Santa Claws." The phrases we focused on are "Decorates the Christmas tree, Hangs it (could be ornament, etc.), Rings/plays the bell, Eats good food, and Opens a/the gift." Below are the links to the resources I've created.

Day 2 (MovieTalk the movie - click here for Youtube link) - Here's also a copy of a script I wrote out last year when I did this for the first time. I always feel more confident when I've written it out and can go through it a few times before I actually do the MovieTalk with the kids. Warning: I did not proof the script before posting, but you can get the idea. Click here for link.
Day 3 (MovieTalk the movie a couple more times and then have students complete a cloze activity - this was challenging for my Level 1 students, but they didn't balk at all and the feedback I got was that they did a lot better than they thought they would when I first handed them the activity. I did let them work with a partner, and before I handed it to them I reminded them to focus on what they DO know instead of the words they might not know and that they should read a sentence or two after each blank before making their answer choice because it might help them.
